Love is in the Hair is an educational and advocacy platform exploring the science, culture, psychology, and social significance of hair — and connecting people to the real-world hair community around them.
This is a founder-led passion project — not a beauty blog, and not a store. The site teaches people about hair from every angle: biology, identity, discrimination, history, and care. It hosts conversations where people share experiences and ask questions, runs workshops, and acts as a mediator between local salons and hair-donation nonprofits — facilitating, verifying, and delivering donations, then documenting the impact.
The realization we hope every visitor has: hair is more than hair. It's beauty and self-expression. It's confidence and insecurity. It's careers, psychology, culture, and — increasingly — legislation and justice.
The name means love for yourself — your inner and outer beauty — expressed through hair in whatever form or direction makes you feel most confident. Hair can be beautiful in any shape or form. Loving it, and knowing all about it, is something special.
Founder
Love is in the Hair is founded and written by Saerin Hwang — a passion project born from the belief that hair deserves to be examined, celebrated, and advocated for from every angle. Saerin writes most of the educational and editorial content, personally reviews every partnership, and personally verifies every donation that moves through the network.
